  • Notes
    • He met Leah Graned and Mendel Granek at Ellis Island when they arrived on the Nederlander in 1909. Sponsored Mendel & Leah Granek in 1909He lived in Baltimore at 1012 E. Lombard Street. Called "Uncle Mutka" by Abe Granek

Had a "roving eye." He abandoned the family in the 1920s. Graduated from Palmer Chiropractic School in Iowa in 1925 or 1927. He was also a magician. Had been a furrier with his brother David in Altoona, PA. Remarried & relocated to Van Nuys, CA. Was originally Jacob OREM, then Aronowicz

As for the Orem, Aronowicz name confusion, my mother Rose Aaron said that Leah called them Orem, which means Poor in Yiddish, and that their real name was Aronowicz.

According to Adele Hyman, Jacob was good-looking and a great dancer, and women were always attracted to him.
